Abstract

The article is devoted to one of the actual problems of syntax. Here is a summary of opinions on
the classification of nominative sentences in Azerbaijani and Russian languages. Nominative
sentences can be formed not only with a noun, but also with its modifiers, numeral, pronoun, adjective, adverb. That is why, unlike one-member sentences expressed by infinitives, nominative
sentences can participate in more different types of sentences. The issue of the syntactic status of noun
phrases in the Azerbaijani and Russian languages is investigated and studied and the ideas put forward
in the modern syntactic theory are reviewed.
