Implementation of social infrastructure projects in Shusha city (1954−1963)

Abstract

During 1954−1963, the pace of development in the field of social infrastructure in Azerbaijan increased, new facilities were put into operation. Most of the work was carried out by the Ministry of Communal Economy of the Azerbaijan SSR, which was engaged in the construction and operation of infrastructure at that time. During this period, Shusha was one of the cities where the largest-scale works were carried out. This city, due to its ancient history, beautiful nature and landscape, as well as its favorable geographical location, became one of the most famous tourism and recreation centers of Soviet Azerbaijan, and a large amount of funds were allocated for its development. The article provides information about the large-scale projects implemented here, the construction of large recreational facilities, reconstruction work on the city's electricity network, water network to improve water supply and meet new requirements, laying pipelines from sources to supply recreation centers with mineral water, creating a liquefied gas infrastructure for the first time, etc.
