      Abstract

From the information reflected in the presented sources of the Ilkhanid period, it is evident that the Sufi sect was widespread in medieval Azerbaijan. Sufi sheikhs actually took over power, in connection with which the Ilkhanate sultans and their viziers were forced to treat them with special respect. Skillfully using this privilege, they spread their religious-sectarian thoughts in all areas under the control of the Ilkhanids.
