    Abstract

The main directions of research in the field of particular algal objectives (floristic, morphological-systematic, applied, ecological) have been highlighted by the staff of the Institute of Botany of ANAS. The results of long-term algofloristic studies of inland water ecosystems in various regions of Azerbaijan (Mingechevir, Varvara reservoirs, reservoirs of the Minor Caucasus, Talysh, lakes of the Kura-Araz lowland, reservoirs of the Major Caucasus , Jeyranbatan reservoir, Lake Goygol, mineral springs of Nakhchivan) have been presented. Systematic algological studies of freshwater reservoirs of the republic began in the 50s of the XX century at the Academy of
Sciences of Azerbaijan and continue to the present. The regions of Republic not covered by algological studies or poorly studied are also indicated and these studies are still less studied.
