    Abstract

The article deals with the problem of new and integrative approaches in evolutionary biology and systematics, as well as in biodiversity research. Of fundamental importance is the analysis of trends in taxonomy, the evolution of organisms, their formsĀ  nd functions, historical and philosophical prerequisites, as well as inventory and management of biodiversity. The results of the development of ways and modern research in the field of phytodiversity in the Caucasus, including Azerbaijan, are discussed, the prospects for their development in the fundamental and applied direction using innovative approaches, ways to solve the problem of conservation of populations, species, communities and ecosystems are considered. Molecular-genetic methods of studying biological diversity, as well as the need to create an electronic flora, are also considered separately. It is emphasized that an important aspect of modern research is the identification of ecosystem activities aimed at ensuring the health of the environment, which is inextricably linked with the quality of the habitat and serves as the main indicator of sustainable development. An integrated approach ultimately makes it possible to identify vulnerable species, structure and their populations; by molecular identification to clarify the taxonomic status of the disputed species.
