Shusha is one of the largest cultural centers of Azerbaijan and the entire South Caucasus. The capital of the Karabakh Khanate, the "Conservatory of the Caucasus", a hotbed of mugham art, this ancient fortress-city, which has witnessed many social and political events, has a special place in the blood memory of our people. Karabakh and its pearl Shusha are one of our historical homelands where great tragedies were experienced in the Russo-Iranian war, which resulted in the division of ancient Azerbaijani lands at the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. The Azerbaijani tribes who settled here were forced to move to the south of the Araz River, to other areas of Azerbaijan, to Georgia due to the great destruction caused by military operations. Since the first half of the 19th century, Armenian families were moved to these areas on a massive scale. In the article, issues related to the Karabakh Khanate, its socio-political, economic and cultural life at the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century are highlighted, and at the same time, it provides extensive information about the lives and works of our valuable philological scholars such as Firidun Bey Kocherli from Shusha and Yusif Vazir Chamenzaminli, who have a worthy place in our literary history. given.
