Historians are well aware of the importance of reading manuscript sources in the study of medieval Azerbaijani history. Of course, the reading and research of historical documents in this direction has a special place. Seals on historical documents, including decrees, court documents and personal letters, should be read and clarified in order to identify those documents. When reading the inscription of any seal, it is necessary to clarify to whom it belongs, the date of its creation, the position held by that person in the system of public administration, as well as other symbolic inscriptions on the seal. The information contained in this article is quoted and commented on by the Iranian historian Jahangir Qaim Magami (1918-1981) and the book "Introduction to the Study of Historical Documents" published in Tehran in 1971. Historian Jahangir Qaim Magami, who studied the Gajar period, received his Ph.D. in Journal of History of Science and Science of Science history from the University of Sarbonna, France, and from 1966 to 1970 was the editor-in-chief of the journal Historical Studies. The article provides information about the seals of the kings of the dynasties that ruled in Iran and Azerbaijan, as well as Elkhani, Jalairi, Teymuri, Garagoyunlu, Aghgoyunlu and Safavi rulers. Since these seals and their inscriptions are important for Azerbaijani historiography, we have tried to translate and interpret the inscriptions on them, as well as to present readers with photos of some of them. When submitting photos of the seals, we had to give them in a reduced form so that they would not take up too much space.
