Abstract

Katip Chalabi, who lived in the 17th century, studied bibliography, history, geography, sharia, Sufism, ethics, public administration, law, finance, maritime affairs, social sciences, and etc. He is one of the world-famous Turkish scholars with his works in various fields.
The great polymath Katip Chalabi is of a twenty-one book collection covering different areas. The first Ottoman scholar, who appealed to the scientific works of the Western world and brought some innovations of Western science to Turkey, was assessed as the "first window to the West" and was accepted as the first herald of independent thinking and positive ideas.
This article provides information about the life and works of Katip Chalabi, and highlights the problems he discusses in his works.
