Abstract

ShamsaddinSivasi (d. 1598) is the founder of the of Shamsiya branch of Khalvatiyya order. Four manuscripts of his three works ‘Miratu-l-ahlaq’ (B-5724), ‘Menazilu-l-arifin’ (M-309), ‘Gül-şen-i-abad’ (B-6040; B-5914) are preserved in Azerbaijan. Being one of the famous Turkish writers of the 16th century, Abus-SenaShamsaddin Ahmed bin AbulBerekat Muhammad bin Arif Hasan is commonly known as ShamsaddinSivasi. According to Peçavi's ‘History,’as well as Nazmi Muham-mad’s ‘Hadayat al-ikhvan’,he had also been called as “QaraShamsaddin” (Black Shamsaddin) and “Qara Shams” (Black Shams), thanks to his black complexion. He used the pseudonym "Shamsi" in his poems.
