Abstract

XIII-XIV centuries is one of the most complicated and, at the same time, contradictory periods in the history of Azerbaijan and the Middle East. During this period, the Turkic-Mongol tribes carried out military campaigns in the Middle East geography and created significant changes in the socio-economic life of the region. In the primary sources, these changes are reflected in the state revenues, especially in the existing tax system, of the state budget. In the article, we attempt to investigate the history of the tax policy of the Mongol ulus - Ilkhanate dynasty, which covered the geography of the Middle East, having Azerbaijan as a centre, and the main characteristic features and explanation of some tax terms based on available studies compared with the English-language historiography, which approaches the issue from a different aspect.
