Abstract

Siberia, rich in gas, oil, coal and iron ore, was one of the most important regions for the deve-lopment of the Soviet state's economy.After World War II, the project to build hydroelectric power plants in Siberia, which could be a great tool for the creation of industrial areas, was included in the master plan of the country.In addition to hydroelectric power plants in Siberia, major construction works were carried out in other oil and gas industries, chemical industry, non-ferrous metallurgy and agriculture.During its existence, the Soviet state made extensive use of the region's rich natural resources and built powerful industries and huge hydroelectric power plants in Siberia to ensure its economic development.
