Abstract

One of the important qualities of the Azerbaijani people - the tradition of charity - became widespread at the beginning of the 20th century and spread to neighboring countries, including Turkey. In this respect, the activity of the “Baku Muslim Charitable Society” founded in 1905 is particularly important. The article describes the assistance provided by the Baku Muslim Charitable Society to the population affected by the First World War in the Kars region of Turkey. Based on the work of the Turkish historian Betul Aslan, this assistance is analyzed and brought to the attention of the public.
Author B.Aslan, who presented information on the structure, members and charter of the society in the book “Dünya Savaşi Esnasinda Azerbaycan Türkleri”nin Anadolu Türklerine Kardaş Kömeği (Yardımı) ve Bakü Müslüman Cemiyyet-i Hayriyesi” also drew particular attention to the charitable activities of charitable societies in different provinces of Turkey. The article discusses the charitable activities of the Baku Muslim Charitable Society in the Kars region, as well as the material and moral support provided to the population affected by Russian and Armenian oppression. Removing orphans and women from the front lines and placing them in safe places in society is also widely covered in the author's book.
