ON THE TRACK OF DEDE KORKUT IN OGUZ REGION

Abstract

The article shows that the events of the epic "Kitabi-Dede Korkut" also took place in the territory of a small region of Azerbaijan - Oghuz (formerly Vartashe). In other words, Oghuz was also the homeland of Dede Korkut's heroes. They neither came here nor passed through it. Both the burial mounds of their ancestors and their own graves are located here. The article cites the results of archaeological excavations in the region, place names in the region that coincide with the characters, motifs, concepts and words of the epic, legends collected from here, some dishes and clothing complexes related to Dede Korkut cuisine are still used today, and the language of the epic is still deeply rooted among the inhabitants of the region. Based on the facts, it is proved that the Oghuz region is included in the historical and geographical area of the epic "Kitabi-Dede Korkut".
