    Abstract

The study of folklore in the urban folklore environment is one of the important issues in modern folklore studies. However, the specificity of the urban environment should be taken as a basis. Here, the spatial instance and content should complement each other. In this study the small genres derived from the formula of behavior in the urban folklore environment are studied. In fact, the specificity of these small genres that are presented is also that these genres emerge from the way they behave. In this context, minor genres such as teasing, mockery, provocation and witty remarks – typically classified as subgenres – are often integrated into both major and minor genres within the folklore tradition, functioning as derivative or embedded forms. These elements fre-quently manifest within a wide range of other genres in folklore texts. This study specifically ex-amines the presence and function of teasing, mockery, provocation and witty remarks originating from behavioral patterns within various folkloric genres, including proverbs, market folklore, ritu-al folklore, street performances, anecdotes, Molla Nasreddin tales, meykhana (improvised oral poetry), Novruz celebrations and urban street music. These genres have been specifically selected and examined due to their distinctive tendency to reflect and reveal characteristics of the urban environment. The research also establishes that the urban folklore environment emerges based on the formation and identification of the urban type itself. For instance, the Novruz celebrations are widespread not only in our country but also across various regions of the world as rituals observed by Eastern and Turkic peoples. However, this study also emphasizes that these rituals possess an urban form as well. The fact that such ceremonies are held in urban spaces such as city squares, avenues, and similar settings demonstrates their relevance to the urban folklore environment. The research is both novel and original in its approach. It is hoped that it will be received positively by the academic community.
