    Abstract

It is known that during the years of Soviet power, the epics of the Turkmens, Uzbeks and other peoples were translated into Russian and published and in a number of cases, based on these publications, studies were carried out in Azerbaijan. Indeed, in addition to Russian translations of folklore texts in these scientific publications, the addition of originals, explanations and comments, as well as musical notes increases their value. However, the Russian language is completely dif- ferent from the Turkic languages both in morphological features and in lexical composition. This leads to the loss of the unique flavor (especially the meaning of set expressions and metaphors) of texts in Turkic languages during translation.
Mutual comparison of Turkmen and Azerbaijani folk literature, music, rituals, traditions, more precisely, folklore, which are the heirs of the ancient Oghuzes, is important, but it still awaits its researchers. Translation, publication and comparison of the spiritual riches of these fraternal peoples are important not only from the point of view of studying the similarities of folklore texts, customs and rituals, but also from the point of view of studying the sources of written literature, as well as the etymology and form of change of some words in the dictionary of both languages.
More precisely, the works carried out in this area, in addition to folkloristics, are valuable sources for the field of language history, etymology, dialectology, as well as the history of Turkic.
Thus, the translation of the Turkmen “Goroghlu” from the original can be assessed as one of the necessary steps taken in the direction of studying the culture of fraternal peoples.
