Azerbaijani fairy tales have a rich text fund. Here you can also find texts about Garachukha.
Garachukha is a mythological figure, the guardian of luck, fate, destiny. When Garachukha sleeps - one's luck is closed, when it is awaken - one always finds blessings. In fairy tales, this image is found under different names. In this respect, the tales "The poor man in search of his Garachukha" and "The boy in search of fortune" are typical. The comparative analysis of both tales allows us to reveal valuable information in terms of studying the meaning characteristics of the image of Gara- chukha. These tales literally repeat each other in terms of ideas, content and plot. The differences between the texts are slight, and are due to the fact that the same plot belongs to different folklore environments. Even though we meet the image of Garachukha in the tale "The poor man in search of his Garachukha" under the name Khuda in the tale "The boy in search of fortune", these are the same images, and the semantic function of both of them is to give a person luck or close luck.
When Garachukha is awake, a person's luck is open, and when he is asleep, it is closed. In this respect, Garachukha is the name of the image in our native language, and Khuda is the old name from Persian. It is clear from the texts that Karachukha and Khuda /Bakht are mythical images related to luck and fate. Every person has his own Garachukha. A person's luck depends on wheth- er his Garachukha is asleep or awake. It depends on the person's intentions whether the Garachu- kha is asleep or awake: Garachukha reveals the luck of a working person, increases his wealth and blessings, and sleeps turning his back to lazy people. The presence of failures in a person's life is a sign that Karachukha is sleeping. A person who wants to awaken Garachukha should love hard work, work, and honesty. Only in this case can he win the patronage of Garachukha. As the poor man and Rustam are foolish people, Garachukha, God/Bakht turns away from them.
