Abstract

The TANAP project, which is an important segment of the Southern Gas Corridor, is
intended to transport Azerbaijani natural gas to Türkiye and Europe. Azerbaijan itself acted as an
initiative and decided to implement the TANAP project together with the brother country Türkiye,
when it became clear that it would be impossible to transport the blue fuel produced by the second
phase of the Shah Deniz natural gas field within the framework of the Nabucco project. Georgia,
as a transit country has also obtained great economic and political dividends in addition to provide
its demand for natural gas in a more favorable condition.
