The article presents an in-depth analysis of the gas market structure of the Republic of Armenia
formed over years and the government's endeavors to diversify energy imports. The article examines the
strategic goals announced by the Armenian government in the field of energy in the medium and long-term
perspective, along with the deliberations held with various countries and the projects initiated to
accomplish these goals. Furthermore, the Armenian energy sector is also endeavoring to align with the
changes observed in recent years in the long-standing traditional, in other terms, Russia-centered foreign
policy vector, which has been in effect for numerous years.
The current geopolitical situation of Armenia, coupled with Gazprom’s still strong position in the
country's gas market, and the distant stance of alternative suppliers in energy trade with Armenia due to
political and economic reasons, cannot seriously affect the current status quo in the energy market. The
actual situation indicates that official Yerevan's attempts to diversify its sources of supply have no
significant perspective.
