Abstract

The cooperation of representatives of the peoples of the Caucasus with Nazi Germany during the Second World War is one of the actual problems. During the war, the Caucasus was in the spheres of interest of a number of European powers. Representatives of the Caucasian emigration intensified their activities during the devastating war. As a result, legions were formed-military units from among the peoples of the Caucasus. One of the legions formed was the Georgian Legion. This article examines the historical background and reasons for the formation of the Georgian Legion. The historical roots of the Georgian-German cooperation, as well as the peculiarities of the activities of the Georgian emigration, are investigated. In general, the problem is relevant in modern historiography.
