Classical poem genres in the ashug poetry (On the basis of Ashig Alasgar’s creativity)

Abstract

The Azerbaijani ashug poetry has been historically related to classical literature and as a result of this connection has been enriched from the view of theme, content, form and genre. Ashug poetry has some genres that are widely used. It has been referred to as such classical poetry genres in the creative work of Ashig Alasgar’s (1821-1926), the most prominent representative of Azerbaijan ashug poetry. In the paper, the features of the classical poetry genres used in the creative work of Ashig Alasgar are connected with the fact that the ashug poetry has a unique rhythm and harmony, unit of poetry. Poems by Ashig Alasgar in the genres of classical poetry are analyzed in terms of theme, content, form, rhythm, and stylistic features.
