Turanism in the poetry of the Republican period

Abstract

The article examines the problems of Turkism and Turanism in the poetry of the Republican period. It is noted that in the early twentieth century, rising national identity and the formation of political thought began to take shape slowly in the second decade of the century.  References to national identity, which have been present in literary and public opinion since the beginning of the century, are entering a new phase at this stage. In particular, in poetry, national thought focuses on independence, Turkism and Turanism. M.Hadi, A.Javad, A.Shaig, A.Muznib, Davud, Zulfugar bey, J.Jabbarli, Aliyusif, S.Mumtaz and others. The Azerbaijani flag, Turkism and Turanism are glorified in his works. However, this process did not last long, with the collapse of the Republic, a new historical situation emerged, and in this historical context, national thought, Turkism, Turanism ceased to be the subject of literature. Despite all this, during this period, those who followed the path of national thought and Turkism became the victims of the repression of 1937. Factors such as pan-Turkism, pan-Islamism, pan-Turanism were cited as the reason for their arrest, and their national ideology resulted in their destruction.
