Abstract

The lexical-semantic meanings of the character names (anthroponyms) in A.Hagverdiyev's considered stories are revealed, nicknames and titles are explained in the article. Personal names and nicknames, as well as titles attached to them are stylistically characterized, their role in creating a comic effect, revealing the inner world of the characters is explained and structural forms are shown.

It is noted in this article that the names of personages are also characterized by features such as sound complex, the aspects such as denotation and signification. As a rule, in personal names, the signification (meaning of the name) usually corresponds to the denotation (the person bearing the name). The names of personages created by writers for a special purpose are exceptions. In the article, it is considered expedient to replace the simple, corrective and complex terms in the structural type of personages with the primary and derivative terms (simple derivative and complex derivative).
