Abstract

The article analyzes that some toponyms and ethnonyms in the text during the literary translation of the works of our great poet Nizami Ganjavi do not reflect the historical and scientific truth. Literary translations of Nizami's works in the 1940s, as we know, were made by poets who lived through the repression of 1937. Therefore, in these works, some mistakes were made in matters related to the history and geography of the Caucasus, or rather, the toponym “Arman”, which is often mentioned in “Iskandar-Nameh”, was translated as “Armenia”. In the article, these issues are studied by comparing the original text of the work on the “Sharaf-Name” part of the “Iskandar-Nameh”.
