Heydar Aliyev and heritage of Nizami Ganjavi

Abstract

One of the great areas of Heydar Aliyev's political and social activity is the invaluable services he rendered to the development of the world and Azerbaijani science of systematics.

Heydar Aliyev's initiatives in the 1970s marked the beginning of a significant and transformative phase in Azerbaijani Nizami studies. With the decision dated January 6, 1979, “On measures to further improve the study, publication and promotion of the heritage of the great poet and thinker of Azerbaijan, Nizami Ganjavi”, a new era started in the history of Azerbaijani Nizami studies. This decision led to significant advancements in the publication, research, and promotion of Nizami Ganjavi's heritage. It facilitated scientific innovations and efforts to address contemporary issues in the field of Nizami studies at the level of modern world scientific standards.

​Among Heydar Aliyev's ideas and visions for the future development of Azerbaijan, the preservation, research, and promotion of the heritage of Nizami Ganjavi played a crucial role as a precious cultural and spiritual asset for the Azerbaijani people.

The significant issues within Nizami studies consistently occupy a central place in the policies pursued by the State of Azerbaijan. On the occasion of the 880th anniversary of the birth of Nizami Ganjavi, the Decree of the President of our country, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, dated January 5, 2021, declaring 2021 the “Year of Nizami Ganjavi” in the Republic of Azerbaijan is a clear example of consistent care and attention to the heritage of the immortal poet.

The 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev aligns with the 3rd anniversary of our victory over the adversary. Under the guidance of our Commander-in-Chief, the courageous and astute President Ilham Aliyev, our Victorious Army successfully removed the aggressive Armenian forces and liberated our homeland from occupation. The greatest aspiration of Heydar Aliyev was witnessing our reclaimed lands. On this momentous Victory Day, we pay our heartfelt respects to Heydar Aliyev, the esteemed statesman of Azerbaijan and a distinguished global political leader!
