The national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, has invaluable services in the study and promotion of the history, culture and literature of Azerbaijan. The work carried out during the years of this outstanding personality at the head of the republic, covers all stages of the history of our centuries-old literature. The study of the literary heritage of classics and modern masters has always been the focus of Heydar Aliyev, who issued decrees on holding their anniversaries. The great leader personally participated in events and anniversaries related to all spheres of art, and in extensive and meaningful speeches highly appreciated their role and significance in history.
This article highlights Heydar Aliyev’s close attention and endless care for the highly valued legacy of Mahammed Fuzuli (1494–1556), tireless activities related to the study of his literary heritage. Attention was drawn to the long-term struggle carried out by Heydar Aliyev for the restoration of the mausoleum of Mahammed Fizuli, the organization of an anniversary event dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the genius personality, timed to coincide with the publication, popularization of Fuzuli’s heritage, and perpetuation of his name, which serves as a vivid example testifying to the endless love for our literature, concern for our national and moral values.
