In the history of medieval Azerbaijani literature, the 14th century period is associated with the name of Nasimi, the 15th-16th century period is associated with Shah Ismail Khatayi, and the 16th century period is associated with the name of Mahammad Fuzuli. The creativity of these artists, who further strengthened the foundations of classical poetry traditions, played a special role in the formation of literature that emerged after them. In this regard, Sururi, who wrote and created in the 15th-16th centuries, attached special importance to Nasimi’s poetry in his work and was recognized as a worthy successor to Nasimi’s legacy. Sururi, like his predecessor Nasimi, put forward and propagated the ideas of the Huruf in his work. Thus, as in Nasimi’s poetry, the main idea, theme and content of Sururi's ghazals were religious motifs. However, it should be noted that in Sururi's divan, one can also find ghazals on the theme of love. As we look closely at the artist's poetry, we also witness that the poet sometimes has a more complex poetic language than Nasimi’s. In general, the spirit of Nasimi’s poetry is felt in the religious-themed ghazals in Sururi's divan. In the article, Sururi's dedication to one of Nasimi’s ghazals is comparatively analyzed, and the points that resonate between the examples belonging to both artists are included in the study.
