    Abstract

The article discusses the symbolism of numbers in the work of the national poet Bakhtiyar Vahabzade, who had a significant impact on the development of Azerbaijani poetry, starting from the 50s of the XX century, ending with the first decade of the XXI century. Based on the specific examples given, the poet's works illustrate how he innovatively weaves traditions of oral folk art, folklore, and mythological patterns into his poems, feeding on them in his own way. We emphasize that in Vahabzade's lyrics, numbers, if, on the one hand, are essentially based on perception, then on the other-it has a symbolic character. The artist, relying on classical patterns, did not lock himself into outdated frameworks, but used his original forms in the use of digital symbols, thereby revealing the philosophical and aesthetic value of his work, giving his own patterns an individual compositional, structural and semantic shade. As a result, the poet eventually managed to bring new expressions to the essence of space and time into his poems, reflecting the course of life. As a result, he managed to polish the originality of his poetic utterance and strengthen the philosophical and psychological mood of his writings.
