The novel genre plays a special role in conveying broad and comprehensive topics in literature, including historical realities, to readers accurately and clearly. When a writer addresses historical topics, a number of conditions are placed before him. Expecting artistic imagination and relativity of facts, having a rich reading on the subject, addressing more complex events, avoiding distortions, etc. is commonplace. These principles were also anticipated in Turkish writer Vedat Ali Tok's novel about the life of Azerbaijani poet Gazi Burhaneddin, who lived in the 14th century. Only sometimes the balance between artistic imagination and the incorporation of facts into the novel is disturbed. Also, one of the controversial issues in the novel is the claim that Gazi is completely far from Sufism. The article briefly touches on this topic and concludes that Gazi was not far from Sufism. The author combined Gazi Burhaneddin's positive qualities with his mistakes and shortcomings, thus transforming the historical figure into a literary hero.
