Scientific publications dedicated to Fuzuli’s heritage in the literary and historical process of the 20th century

Abstract

The research of the heritage of Mahammad Fuzuli, the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker who made a unique contribution to the development of Azerbaijani literary heritage has been one of the current topics of literary criticism throughout history. Fuzuli by saying “The poem without knowledge becomes a wall without a foundation, and a wall without a foundation is unreliable.”, mastered all sciences and had his unique style in classical literary criticism; and his heritage was studied during his period. Fuzuli Studies was created based on tazkirism and scientific approach to Fuzuli Studies dates back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The founder of Azerbaijani Fuzuli Studies of Soviet period was Mir Jalal Pashayev and the author of the first fundamental work was Hamid Arasli. But during 20th century the dominant Soviet ideology had an impact on the developing Fuzuli Studies.  After our country gained its independence, National Leader Heydar Aliyev who paid special attention to Azerbaijani statehood and preservation of its history and culture, signed a decree on holding the 500th anniversary of Mahammad Fuzuli at the state level and after this decree Azerbaijani Fuzuli studies entered the new period. This period is the most productive period of Fuzuli Studies. The poet was distinguished by his encyclopedic knowledge and rich creativity among the world classics and the extensive study of his heritage in new directions began from this period. In the article is reviewed the scientific researches and publications dedicated to poet’s life and creativity.
