Mahammad Fuzuli’s birthplace in the tazkires and researches

Abstract

Some aspects of the life of the great Azerbaijani poet, Mahammad Fuzuli, like many other literary figures, are contentious issue in the scientific world. The thoughts on poet’s place and date of birth are superior among these. In the article the aspects on Fuzuli’s birthplace is studied on the basis of researches and tazkires written to date. Fuzuli’s life and creativity had been studied by tazkirists such as Latifi, Ahdi Baghdadi, Ginalizade Hasan Chalabi, Mustafa Beyani, Riyazi and Sadig bey Sadigi and some information on poet’s place and date of birth can be found in their tazkires. The researchers such as S.Mumtaz, H.Arasli, R.Azade, F.Koprulu, H.Mazioghlu, Mir Jalal, V.Feyzullazade, Z.Bayramli and others approached the rich works of those Medieval tazkirists to cunduct the research on Fuzuli’s place and date of birth. Some indications of the place of birth are also found in the poet’s works. In the research is paid attention to these aspects, too. The idea that Fuzuli’s birthplace was Karbala is more prevalent according to the tazkires and poet's notes.
