    Abstract

In this article, the mountain image used in Fuzuli’s work is taken as the research object. Before Fuzuli’s work, the mythological, religious and mystical functions of the mountain were considered. It has been noted that the mountain is given as a special place, as a place of communication with God, both in sufi-religious and mythological positions. In the “Kitabi-Dada Gorgud” and “Koroglu” epics, mythological functions of the mountain –protector, savior, healer, etc. explained by presenting examples. In M. Fuzuli’s  work “Leyli and Majnun”, the image of the mountain acted as a bearer of both sufi-religious and mythological functions.  From a mythological point of view, hami (protector), performed or refered to the functions  of a space for communication with the  Divine, a progenitor, an  ancestor, a father, a mother, a living being. In the religious and mystical sense, the path to God  is characterized as the abode of lovers and the friend of lovers. Mythological and sufi meaning is  synthesized here and given in unity.
