About teaching Mahammad Fuzuli’s poem “Leyli and Majnun” in secondary schools

Abstract

The article provides detailed information about the teaching of the poem “Leyli and Majnun” by the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Mahammad Fuzuli in secondary schools. A general overview of the history of teaching this work in Azerbaijan is given. The main problems that arise when teaching a work in modern times are explained. Suggestions are put forward that will make the poem more effective for students to assimilate. Based on the available methodological literature on the topic, a conclusion on teaching the work is given. The current curriculum of secondary schools in the subject “Literature” explains the hours allocated for teaching Fuzuli’s poem “Leyli and Majnun”, the content of lessons and the organization of stages. Teaching methods suitable for each lesson and stage are considered. Young teachers in their professional activities, teachers of higher educational institutions, when preparing texts of lectures on the subject “Methodology of teaching literature”, as well as students studying the specialty “Teaching Azerbaijani language and literature”, can use the main conclusions of the article as a teaching aid on the subject in seminar classes.
