Sarraf Gasim on ashug creativity

Abstract

 The ashug creativity of the unforgettable poet and master Sarraf Gasim, known as the founder of the contemporary Nakhchivan ashug school, made contributions to the word and saz creation of Nakhchivan. In the article is studied the ashug creativity of Sarraf Gasim. It is known from research that there was no one else who had as much deyishmes (a kind of poem composed by ashugs), poems, had as many meetings with other poets and wrote the epics like Sarraf Gasim among the Nakhchivan ashugs and poets.   Sarraf Gasim who had taken lessons from master ashugs and poets, had been familiar with all the secrets of the ashug creativity and had made a great contribution to the development of Azerbaijani ashug literature by his creative activity did important things in preaching and teaching of ashug creativity by his saz and word in Nakhchivan environment, provided Nakhchivan ashugs with sazs (musical instruments) he bought from other regions, established the first official saz schools in Nakhchivan and trained many ashugs and teachers of saz.
