Abstract

The article analyzes the issue of the impact on poetry of the new socio-political environment of the 1990s in the republic. The influence of global events and processes on modern poetry, the reflection of ongoing conflicts in society, historical processes, and public consciousness are explored. The main nuances of the events happening in the world and the republic, which brought new ideas, themes and content to Azerbaijani poetry, are highlighted.

Gradually, poetry reflects the struggle for the preservation and establishment of the national spirit. Despite this, one can speak of weakening of the optimistic stream in poetry, an intensification of the pessimistic mood. Serious innovations can be clearly observed in the socio-aesthetic position of all poets.
