Takhmises by Masihi Tabrizi

Abstract

The work of Masih Tabrizi, a representative of the 16th century of Azerbaijani literature, has remained out of scientific research and has not been specifically investigated. A detailed study of the rich and diverse literary heritage of the poet is one of the main tasks facing our literary studies. Masihi’s diwan is also rich and diverse in terms of genre. Takhmis also occupies a special place among the genres that he used. In this article, the poet's takhmises are taken as a special research subject and it is aimed to reveal their artistic features. In the article is given information about the takhmises written by Masihi Tabrizi on Uzbek poet, Alisher Navoiy (1441-1501) and one of them is widely investigated by stanzas. The hemistiches added by poet to the stanza of takhmis is compared with the couplets that were written takhmis to the ghazal by Navai and the idea-content, language-style, poetic similarity between both examples is revealed.
