Abstract

The article deals with the documentary historical novel "Azerbaijan until the last breath" written by prominent poet, prose writer, playwright, literary critic Vugar Ahmad with reference to archival materials and historical documents. In the work, the artistic portrait of historical figures becomes the object of research. The peculiarity of the author's work on the artistic portrait of the protagonist of the novel Muhammad Amin Rasulzadeh in two directions: the appearance and the description of the inner world are analyzed more. It was brought to the attention that he created an external portrait based on biographical information about M.A.Rasulzadeh, his autobiographical notes, available photo archive materials, memories of his relatives, documents, and an internal portrait based on his works and available materials on his socio-political activities.
The portraits of negative images of historical figures such as Adolf Hitler, Vladimir Lenin, Stepan Shaumiyan, Anastas Mikoyan were also analyzed in the article in comparison with the portrait of the protagonist Muhammad Amin Rasulzadeh.
