    Abstract

Terek barbel (Barbus ciscaucasicus Kessler, 1877) distributed in the rivers Kuma, Terek, Sulak,
Rubashchay, Chyrahchay et al., which take their beginning in the Greater Caucasus mountain range
and flow into the Caspian Sea. In Azerbaijan, it lives in the Samur River and small rivers flowing
through the territory of the Khachmaz District. Data on the populations of these fish in Azerbaijan relate to 50 years of the last century [1, 2, 3, 4]. Due to the fact that these data are outdated and morphobiological features of Terek barbel never been researched, it was time for a thorough study of this fish.
