The biodiversity of oak species was analyzed at the molecular level for the first time in Azerbaijan. In the study, genetic polymorphism was assessed using 10 RAPD primers in 7 oak genotypes of 5 species (Q. castaneifolia C.A. Mey., Q. pedunculiflora C. Koch., Q. iberica Stev., Q. macranthera Fisch. & C.A.Mey. ex Hohen) collected from different regions. A total of 113 elements were synthesized during the RAPD-PCR analysis, 91 of them were polymorphic. The highest polymorphism (92.31%) was recorded with the OPD-05 primer, and the lowest polymorphism (57.14%) was recorded with the OPB-05 primer. The high polymorphism of the samples indicates a high genetic diversity. The results suggest that RAPD markers are suitable for genetic research in oaks.
