        Abstract

The study of the phenomenon of polyembryony in 33 samples of 4 species of onion showed that for three years Allium L. had a constantly high frequency of polyembryony. The ability to form twins was observed in 61,1% of the studied samples of Allium ascolonicum L., 55,6% of the samples of Allium porrum L., 56,7% of the samples of Allium cepa L. However, among them, the shallots samples - Ismailly local and onions - Masallinsky local stood out, as having a consistently high frequency of multi-embryo growth, as well as the ability to constantly form polyploid twin seedlings. From the polyembryonic seeds of this culture, haploids, triploids and tetraploids can be obtained.
